Astep SB Cinquantotto suspension lamp

Astep SB Cinquantotto is a suspension lamp for interiors with a timeless character, reintroduced by Astep and originally designed in 1958 by designers Carlo Santi and Vittorio Borachia — from whose initials the name SB Cinquantotto derives. Its form is simple, minimal and quietly refined: the pendant diffuser is crafted from hand-blown frosted opal glass, following the Italian artisan tradition, producing a soft, diffused light emission that enhances any interior without causing glare. The slender black cable runs freely through the suspension system, allowing effortless height adjustment.

The lamp is available in two sizes, suited to different settings. The SB Cinquantotto Large model (Ø 320 mm, diffuser height 410 mm, cable length up to 2350 mm, weight 2.6 kg) makes a bold visual statement and is ideal above a dining table or in spacious living rooms, where it becomes a striking decorative centrepiece. The SB Cinquantotto Small model (Ø 200 mm, diffuser height 260 mm, cable length up to 2200 mm, weight 1.45 kg) shares the same construction quality and aesthetic refinement in a more compact format, ideal for intimate spaces or multi-pendant compositions. Both models operate at 220–240 V, come complete with a LED bulb included (E14 for the Small, E27 for the Large), and carry an IP20 rating for indoor use only. The lamp is not dimmable and features insulation class I.
