Great singularity and rare elegance, this is how Mantis BS2 presents itself, the projecting wall lamp from the Mantis collection by Bernard Schottlander for DCW. The structure is always made of steel and aluminum, very thin and functional thanks to the system with counterweight and wall block by means of a chain, which is fixed to a hook by positioning the lamp in the way you want. The graceful and intriguing praying mantis becomes a luminous, historical object, ready to illuminate different spaces such as kitchens and living rooms or dining rooms, on a laden and convivial table or next to sofas and armchairs. It was 1951 when the designer created this large collection of lamps, also inspired by the dynamism of Alexander Calder's works of art. The details of Mantis immediately catch the eye starting from the switch placed underneath, on the round counterweight, up to the chain, the long-limbed wall fixings and the elongated and rounded diffuser. Each part of the lamp is made with ductile and at the same time resistant material, to facilitate rotation and 180° horizontal and vertical movement. Acrobat in mid-air Mantis expands in places, refined and timeless, filling the walls and giving the historical and consciously showy touch to the indoor areas. Made with a rotational mold, the German designer takes his cue and aims at the symmetrical and asymmetrical in opposition to each other, through the helical movement. A design product studied in every detail with strong inspirations.
