Astep Model 2109/20 Suspension Lamp with Blown Glass Spheres

Astep Model 2109/20 is a suspension lamp from the Le Sfere collection, originally designed by the Italian design master Gino Sarfatti in 1959 and reissued by Astep in 2018 in updated versions. The project stems from a poetic vision: for Sarfatti, the sky and luminous bodies were a constant presence, and the moon served as the true inspiration for this lamp. The compositional principle is as simple as it is refined — a blown opal glass sphere is cradled by a graphic steel ring, an embrace that gives the entire piece a distinctly elegant aesthetic. Each sphere measures 200 mm in diameter and is arranged on a large radial structure available in Black or Champagne finishes, ceiling rose included.

Designed to enhance generous interior spaces, the Model 2109/20 adapts naturally to both residential and contract settings, from classic to contemporary. It is a superb choice for a living room or any representative space where light becomes an architectural element. The lamp is equipped with 16 LED E27 light sources, each up to 60 W, with LED bulbs included, delivering a total luminous flux of 12,896 lm and a color temperature of 2700 K, warm white, faithfully evoking the ambient moonlight quality that Sarfatti envisioned. Each sphere can be directed downward or upward, offering adjustable direct and indirect light emission to suit different needs. The lamp carries a protection rating of IP20 and is classified as Insulation Class II. The E26-E27 lampholder is compatible with the main international voltage standards (EU, USA, UK, AUS, JAP). With an overall diameter of Ø 1400 mm, a suspension cable of 1800 mm, and an adjustable height between 700 and 1600 mm, the Model 2109/20 is conceived for large, sweeping interiors. Within the same family, the Model 2109/14 is also available, featuring spheres with a 140 mm diameter for a more compact arrangement.
