Description

It was 1932 when Pietro Chiesa joined FontanaArte, leaving behind a career of apprenticeship as a glassmaker with Giannotti that had begun years earlier. FontanaArte -characterized by Gio Ponti and Luigi Fontana - immediately took an interest in Mister Pietro Chiesa and his vision, appointing him artistic director of the company. From this collaboration was born Fontana, the inimitable table formed by a single plate of float glass curved and ground on both sides and 15 mm thick. Its essentiality and timeless beauty are the result of a modern technique and approach that Chiesa already demonstrated to have: the work behind the curvature is still today considered arduous at an engineering level. For these reasons, the coffee table enters the history of design very easily, becoming an extraordinary piece full of elegance. Even today it maintains the same shape and it does not undergo variations: certainly a timeless design object. Fontana is available in the three versions Small, Medium and Large.
