Throw-away is the sofa by Zanotta, designed by Willie Landels in 1965. Its structure is entirely boneless, built in expanded polyurethane with no rigid frame, giving the piece its distinctively soft, enveloping silhouette. In the removable-cover version, the upholstery is double-layered: a fixed inner lining in nylon fabric and a removable outer cover available in fabric or leather.
Throw-away is available in six upholstery options: fabric grades 20, 30 and 40 and leather categories 95, 98 and 99, allowing for varied combinations of colour and material. In the removable-cover version, the outer upholstery separates from the fixed inner nylon lining, leaving the polyurethane structure intact. In the soggiorno, the sofa stands out as a strong formal element, defined by its silhouette with no visible structural components.
