TCI 50 Str/12 mechanical 12V transformer

The TCI 50 Str/12 is a 12V AC mechanical transformer rated at 50W, manufactured by TCI and designed to power low-voltage LED and halogen lamps. Built in steel, it converts mains voltage from 220-240V input to 12V AC output, ensuring safe and stable power supply for residential and commercial lighting installations.

Thanks to its compact form factor and screw-slot mounting system, the TCI 50 Str/12 is well suited for concealed installation in false ceilings, custom joinery and decorative lighting points requiring a reliable 230V to 12V step-down conversion with loads up to 50W.

Main technical specifications

The transformer delivers a 50W output power at 12V AC, accepting an input voltage between 220 and 240V. Its compact dimensions — 155 mm length, 40 mm width and 34 mm depth — allow installation in confined spaces. Input and output terminal blocks are located on the same side, with a compatible conductor cross-section of 0.75 to 2.5 mm². The unit is not dimmable.

Safety and protection

The TCI 50 Str/12 carries Insulation Class I certification, providing protection against direct and indirect electrical contact, and includes grounding terminals. The IP20 protection rating makes it suitable for indoor installations. Separated windings ensure compliance with safety transformer standards, with thermal insulation class C/F at 155°C and windings rated class H at 180°C.
