Studio Job was founded in 1998 by Job Smeets in the Renaissance spirit, combining traditional and modern techniques to produce one-of-a-kind objects. Their work is heraldic and regal and as elegant as the finished work may be, it is also instinctive and almost primal. At Studio Job a wide range of crafts is practiced where traditional craftsmen and specialists in bronze and glass casting work together with experts in the use of lasers and 3D printing. Based in both the Netherlands and Milan, Job Smeets is an artistic director, artist and designer, a pioneer of contemporary conceptual and sculptural design. The results of his works range from works of art at the Metropolitan Museum in New York, to the bronze sculptures of Miami Beach, to the marvelous cabinet of curiosities created for Swarovski (Wunderkammer). Heralded as one of the most influential design teams by the Financial Times, Studio Job is passionate about building work that is becoming ever more extravagant in detail and ever more personal.
