Sofie Refer believes that lighting is the most crucial and powerful aspect of any environment. Soon after graduating from Denmark's Design School in 2003, she opened her Copenhagen-based lighting design and production company Refer + Staer, where she is Partner and Creative Director. Her simple, streamlined designs have garnered her numerous awards, appearing in the private and commercial sector, such as restaurants, hotels, nightclubs and city councils worldwide. Driven by a passion to find new ways to play with light, Refer uses the latest technology to create designs which signal Scandinavian simplicity with a touch of extravagance.
