Oluce Astro wall lamp

Astro by Oluce is a wall lamp with direct and diffused light, designed by Giopato & Coombes who wanted to make this cube the leitmotif of their project. They studied the isometric projection and starting from that they played with the perceptions of the volumes themselves, so they arrived at the construction of a solid rhombic dodecahedron by Catalan composed of twelve equal rhombuses. The Astro wall lamp was then created from a plane figure resembling a solid, and so they created a solid that looks like a plane. It has three transparent and sandblasted surfaces and the remaining ones are opaque. These colours make the lamp look like a small jewel whose geometries are enhanced by the materials it is made of: the metal part, which can be white or black, and the transparent and sandblasted glass give the light a ‘prismatic’ effect. Astro can be directed during assembly to maximise its potential.
