Memphis Kristall coffee table

Kristall is a coffee table designed by Michele De Lucchi for the Memphis movement, characterised by a bold and playful design. With a shape vaguely reminiscent of a zoomorphic creature, it is composed of a ‘head’, a ‘body’ and ‘paws’ that give it an eccentric and unique appearance. Its silhouette is reminiscent of the Apollo XI exploration module, evoking a futuristic and surreal atmosphere, as if it had landed directly in the living room.

Made of lacquered wood, the coffee table is covered with the ‘Fantastic’ decorative pattern, a dynamic and colourful graphic motif designed by De Lucchi himself, emphasising the ironic and unconventional style typical of Memphis. The metallic elements, painted in bright colours, add robustness and a touch of brilliance to the design. Kristall is not just a functional object, but a true work of contemporary art that expresses the essence of radical 1980s design.
