Cucumber by Memphis is a ceramic vase with a surprising and playful design, designed by Martine Bedin in 1985. Its silhouette is characterised by a balance of soft, asymmetrical lines that create an object with a lively and energetic appearance. The white surface is animated by sinuous blue patterns that evoke a sense of movement and dynamism. To complete the design, a bright yellow ring runs across the top, in stark contrast to the cylindrical black base on which the vase rests solidly. The pot-bellied, almost organic shape is reminiscent of a cucumber, but reinterpreted in an artistic and sculptural key, with a bold colour combination that immediately catches the eye.
