Memphis California carpet

The California carpet by Memphis Milano, designed by Nathalie Du Pasquier in 1983, is one of the most iconic expressions of the Memphis movement: a fusion of visual stimuli that mix past and present, craftsmanship and industry. The design features a bold pattern with black spots on a blue background, red triangles, white squares with black dots, and yellow and red stripes in the centre. The geometric shapes, positioned along a coloured border, appear chaotic but are perfectly balanced, creating a unique composition that fully reflects the typical Memphis style. Hand-knotted from 100% Tibetan wool on a handloom, the California carpet measures 2500 x 1800 mm and, owing to its handmade nature, each piece may present slight variations in size and colour, making every item a one-of-a-kind piece.
