Memphis Ashoka table lamp

Memphis Ashoka is an iconic table lamp designed by Ettore Sottsass in 1981 for Memphis Milano, one of the most celebrated names in Italian postmodern design. Crafted in metal, Ashoka takes its name from the ancient Maurya emperor and perfectly embodies the Memphis movement's aesthetic philosophy: an apparently chaotic assembly of colourful, unstable geometric shapes that ultimately achieve a surprising balance. Destructured in appearance yet perfectly symmetrical in form, this lamp is an exuberant masterpiece that boldly challenges the conventions of traditional design.

Measuring 39.5 × 8 × 85.5 cm, Memphis Ashoka is designed to enhance spaces with a strong personality. It is ideal for the living room or a reading area where light itself becomes a decorative statement. The lamp features 6 light sources in total — five E14 sockets and one G9 — delivering a combined power of 23 W and a colour temperature of 3000 K for a warm, enveloping glow. Bulbs are included in the package. The lamp operates on a universal voltage range of 100–240 V and is not dimmable. Its diffused light emission creates an intimate yet scenographic atmosphere, making Ashoka as much a work of art as a functional light source.
