Martinelli Luce Metafora, low glass table resting on four geometric elements of different shapes and marbles. Suitable for indoor use only.
Read more ...Since its first presentation at the Salone del Mobile in 1979, the Metafora table designed by Lella and Massimo Vignelli has fascinated by its aesthetics, the choice of shapes and materials, where no detail is casual but everything is linked by a common thread of historical meanings and references. The sphere represents the terrestrial globe, origin and sustenance of humanity; The pyramid represents the Egyptian civilization, the first great example of social organization, the cradle of culture and spirituality; The cylinder re-proposes the Roman Empire, the apex of an ancient world which then disastrously collapsed; The cube represents the black stone of the Kaaba in Mecca, the founding element of Islam, another great pillar of humanity. All these symbols and meanings collected in a single setting blend design with culture and sensitivity for human adventure.
The shapes of the cube, cylinder, sphere and pyramid geometry form the base of the table completed by a large plate of transparent glass. The four elements are not fixed and can be positioned freely, without the table losing its identity, regardless of the position, all however necessary to give it stability.
The four geometric shapes are available in different types of marble:
- Pyramid in white Carrara marble
- Cube in black Marquinia
- Travertine cylinder
- Sphere in Emperador Dark
