Area-17 is an architecture and interior design studio whose design philosophy is deeply rooted in the culture of Italian design. Area-17 Architecture & Interiors was born in Florence in 2004. Strengthened by the shared experience at the University of Florence, its partners associate with the aim of creating a structure that operates at an international level. "The concept is the reinterpretation of the pure geometric shape, a characterizing element of the original lamp. The black and white striped optical pattern reinterprets the shape through geometric contrast and at the same time pays homage to the aesthetics of the Sixties. The 50 lines also punctuate with exactly the years of which the anniversary is celebrated and explode in a coordinated packaging."
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Cobra lamp, Martinelli Luce decided to have his character interpreted by the designers who collaborate with Martinelli, through the creation of a graphic texture to be applied to the lamp body. A tribute from all of them to Elio Martinelli, who designed the lamp in 1968. 23 creations in a limited edition of 30 signed and numbered specimens.
