Louis Poulsen Rumee 220 Portable battery lamp

Designer Gabriel Tan introduces the “Rumee” lamp, whose name is a playful blend of meanings drawn from both Danish and English. It combines the Danish word “rum” — meaning space or room — with the English word “me,” while also echoing the sound of “roomie,” the informal term for a roommate. This play on words evokes the idea of someone to share your home with — a companion that conveys warmth and comfort.

Rumee is designed to provide high-quality light while emitting a soft 360-degree ambient glow. It features a slightly tilted head that directs the light both downward and forward, expanding the beam angle. The light source includes a diffuser that ensures glare-free illumination. Gabriel Tan drew inspiration from the wavy curves of a broad, spacious hat, creating a sculptural design that recalls shapes found in the natural world. The portable Rumee lamp is not only aesthetically pleasing but also comfortable to hold, making it easy to carry from one space to another.
