Louis Poulsen PH 4½-3½ Glass Floor Lamp Chrome

The Louis Poulsen PH 4½-3½ Glass Floor Lamp Chrome is an icon of Scandinavian design created by Poul Henningsen for Louis Poulsen. Introduced in its current form in 1990, this floor lamp belongs to the celebrated PH three-shade family, a lighting system conceived by the Danish designer to eliminate glare and distribute soft, enveloping and perfectly diffused light. The shades are crafted from three-layer hand-blown white opal glass, with a glossy upper surface and an opaque sandblasted lower surface, allowing precise control over the quality of the emitted light. The supporting structure features an upper plate and a plate in drawn brass with a bright chrome finish, a bright chromed steel stem, and an anti-glare ring in violet-tinted drawn aluminium — a distinctive and unmistakable hallmark of the PH family.

The PH 4½-3½ Glass is part of a remarkably coherent design system: Henningsen did not simply create a single lamp, but an entire language for domestic lighting, expressed through approximately one thousand different models over the years, spanning table lamps, floor lamps, wall lamps and chandeliers. With its upper shade measuring approximately 450 mm in diameter and a total height of 1250 mm, this floor lamp commands elegant presence in residential spaces, fitting naturally in the living room or the bedroom. The lamp uses an E26-E27 lampholder, compatible with a maximum 100 W light source, and features universal voltage input of 100-240 V, making it compatible with major international electrical standards. The power cord measures 3300 mm in length, ensuring excellent flexibility in positioning. The lamp includes an integrated switch, is rated Insulation Class II and carries an IP20 protection rating, suitable for use in dry indoor environments.
