Louis Poulsen AJ Oxford table lamp

Louis Poulsen AJ Oxford is a table lamp designed by Arne Jacobsen for St Catherine's College, Oxford — the modernist building he himself conceived — with the aim of reflecting its architectural language in deliberate contrast to the classical tradition of the University of Oxford. Crafted in aluminium with refined brass details and an opal glass diffuser, the lamp reveals an obsessive attention to detail: from the brass screw securing the shade to the black textile cable running neatly inside the metal body, every element is designed to be both functional and aesthetically flawless.

Originally conceived in a pivot-only version — designed to be mounted directly onto the college's long oak desks seating up to 350 people — AJ Oxford is now also available in base versions, in Small (Ø 220×284×185 mm) and Large (Ø 220×413×185 mm) sizes, while the pivot version measures Ø 220×410×50 mm. Two finishes are available: a fully opal diffuser or a black metal upper part with opal diffuser, to suit both residential and professional settings. With its diffused light and timeless character, AJ Oxford integrates effortlessly into a living room, on a desk in the office, or on a bedside table in the bedroom. The lamp features an E14 lampholder compatible with LED sources up to 20 W (bulb not included), a black textile cable 2×0.75 mm² with plug, and an integrated On-Off switch. The degree of protection is IP20, insulation is Class II, with international voltage compatibility EU-AUD-USA-UK-JAP and an input of 220-240 V.
