iGuzzini Sorella led table lamp

An icon of 1970s Italian design, the Sorella table lamp is immediately recognizable for its compact size and bold, forward-leaning silhouette — a shape reminiscent of a nun’s traditional headpiece, which inspired its name. The lamp was conceived by Adolfo Guzzini, who during a family holiday aboard a boat became captivated by the elegant, flared ventilation cowls on the deck. Back in the company, he developed his sketches with the technical team, transforming that nautical inspiration into a luminous object with a distinctive two-part symmetrical body that recreates the sophisticated, flared geometry of the lampshade.

Despite its intentionally tilted posture, stability is ensured by a weighted base hidden inside the structure, allowing the lamp to rest at an oblique angle while remaining perfectly balanced. Reissued in 2022 in two contemporary finishes — white and black — Sorella continues to fascinate with its sculptural presence, sparking curiosity and surprise through its unique visual language.

Its futuristic appearance has also made it a favorite in film and television sets: Sorella appears in renowned science-fiction productions such as 2001: A Space Odyssey, Space: 1999, and Star Trek, seamlessly integrating into the visionary control rooms and spacecraft interiors of these iconic worlds.

More than a lamp, Sorella is a storytelling object — a piece born from nautical inspiration and transformed into a timeless design icon that still captivates and enhances any environment.
