Helvar 920 DALI2 dual network router with Ethernet connection

Helvar 920 is a DALI2 dual network router with Ethernet connection, designed to integrate and manage large-scale lighting control systems. Built in PVC, with compact dimensions of 160 x 100 x 60 mm and a weight of just 260 g, the device mounts on a DIN rail and is intended for installation in technical rooms. Its universal power supply accepts an input of 100–240 V (85–264 VAC, 45–65 Hz), making it compatible with mains voltages across Europe, Australia, USA, UK and Japan. The protection rating is IP20.

The Helvar 920 Router uses a 1 x RJ45 10/100 Mbps Ethernet connection (Cat 5E up to 100 m) as a network backbone, enabling separate DALI networks to be combined simply and effectively. Each router supports up to 128 DALI devices — 64 per line — each line equipped with an internal 250 mA power supply. Up to 100 routers can be connected within a single group, managing up to 12,800 devices across 16,000 DALI groups. The device supports TCP/IP and DALI protocols, up to 252 S-DIM addresses and up to 512 DMX addresses (input or output), using RS485-type cabling — stranded, twisted and shielded — from 0.22 mm² to 1.5 mm², with a maximum length of 1000 m. The DALI cable can range from 0.5 mm² to 1.5 mm² over a maximum distance of 300 m. Power dissipation is 23 VA, with circuit protection via an external MCB of maximum 6 A.

Helvar's Designer software enables advanced programming of the router, providing energy-saving functions through presence control and constant light regulation. Further automation is achieved through event-based programming, while the OPC server software allows interfacing with Building Management Systems (BMS). All settings are stored within the device itself, making continuous PC connection unnecessary — a PC can be connected solely for diagnostic or monitoring purposes when required. The absence of a centralised controller eliminates the risk of total system shutdown in the event of a failure. The router also features an integrated internal clock and core functionality available without any preliminary programming. Operating conditions include an ambient temperature between 0°C and 40°C, a maximum relative humidity of 90% non-condensing, and a storage temperature from -10°C to 70°C. The product complies with EMC standards (EN 55015), immunity (EN 61547), safety (EN 60950) and meets WEEE and RoHS directives.
