Fontana Arte Pinecone Medium suspension lamp

The Pinecone Medium, designed by Paola Navone in collaboration with Fontana Arte, is a suspension lamp characterized by a diffuser produced using the ancient caged blown glass technique: the glass master blows the glass bubble with his mouth into a metal cage, which it contains its natural expansion only in part. In this way, the artisanal product is partly held back by the cage and partly escapes from it, creating a play of tension. The cage is then further embellished with a galvanic treatment that enhances its appearance, making it shiny and bright.

The transparent version, in particular, allows the observer to read a double level of structure, increasing the scenographic effect, and the interweaving of the metal basket projects a kaleidoscopic play of shadows onto the surrounding surfaces. On the contrary, the white version delicately follows the cage and underlines its geometries, generating an elegant and pleasant diffused light. It is a very suggestive luminaire with a strong impact both when turned off and on.
