Parolona, Made in Italy floor lamp with three different types and workings of glass: blown, natural and natural crystal. Power cord in striped fabric, black dimmer and plug. Design By Gae Aulenti and Piero Castiglioni, 1980.
Parolona is the floor lamp par excellence, the result of the collaboration between Gae Aulenti and Piero Castiglioni in 1980. This lamp embodies the meaning and example of technical integration between craftsmanship and industry. Parolona is mostly characterized by a single material, i.e. glass, pre-eminently the material of Fontana Arte which is subjected to three types of processing for this lamp. Starting from the bottom, there is a ground transparent glass base; continuing towards the frame, we find borosilicate glass and finally the diffuser in glossy colored paste blown glass. The lampshade in the shape of a sphere is perforated in the upper part, allowing a diffused, decentralized and also dimmable light emission. The attachment of the base is in chromed metal while the power cord is in tiger fabric, with black dimmer and plug. Parolona will always be an icon and a design object with a unique style. It will seem to have in the day and living areas, an almost full moon that lights up everything.
