Fontana Arte Daruma Historical Table Lamp

Daruma by FontanaArte is a historical table lamp designed by Sergio Asti in 1968, now considered an icon of Italian design and permanently exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York. Its sculptural form consists of a globe serving as a support base, surmounted by a small cap that houses the light source: both elements are crafted in glossy white blown glass. The difference in glass thickness between the two parts creates a natural chromatic gradient from the lower to the upper section, making Daruma a visually striking object even when switched off.

Thanks to its timeless elegance, the Daruma lamp fits naturally into refined interiors: it is a sophisticated choice for the living room, where it enhances consoles, bookshelves and statement surfaces, and equally suited to the bedroom as a bedside or desk lamp. The diffused light emission is soft and enveloping, produced by the translucency of the blown glass, which distributes light evenly throughout the space. The lamp features an E26-E27 lampholder, compatible with LED sources up to varying wattages depending on the chosen version; the bulb is not included. An integrated switch is fitted on the black power cord with a two-pole European plug. The lamp is not dimmable, carries insulation class II and a protection rating of IP20, making it suitable for indoor use only. The compatible input voltage ranges from 100 to 240 V, ensuring compatibility with multiple international standards.

Daruma is available in three sizes. The Small version (Ø16×17 cm) accommodates an E27 LED source up to 20W, ideal for compact surfaces or bedside tables. The Medium version (Ø28×29 cm) supports up to 46W E27 and pairs harmoniously with tables and sideboards. The Large version (Ø40×42 cm), which can host sources up to 100W E27, has a truly scenic presence and commands attention in spacious environments with contemporary or classic interiors.
