The Toio lamp was born in 1962 from the creative genius of the Castiglioni brothers, two of the most celebrated designers of the 20th century. Thanks to an experimental and playful approach, they designed the lamp using unusual materials, such as a car headlight imported from the United States. The idea of reusing industrial components to create avant-garde design collections marked a turning point in the design landscape of those years. The lamp's incredible design was rewarded with an exhibition at MoMA in New York, making clear its relevance and influence on contemporary design.
The lamp starts from a sheared and bent steel base, to develop vertically thanks to its delicate liquid-painted steel profiles. The most important aspect is the adjustment of the light point; in fact, thanks to the special telescopic movement of the rod, it is easy and convenient to position the spotlight at the desired height. In this way you will have the possibility to choose the amount and shape of light to be diffused in the environment: an indirect and well-distributed light that starts from the bottom, adjustable with the dimmer positioned on the cable.
