Flos Seki-Han suspension lamp

Flos Seki-Han is a suspension lamp originally designed in 1963 by Tobia Scarpa and now reissued by Flos in a new 2025 edition. The structure features two horizontal ash wood blades, joined by chromed metal connectors, enclosing an integrated tubular LED light source. The wood is cut using state-of-the-art CNC milling technology in Northern Italy and treated through a special thermal process that dries the wood fibers, preventing deformation over time — ensuring that every piece is unique in its natural character. The name draws inspiration from "seki han", the traditional Japanese red rice dish prepared for special occasions.

In the 2025 re-edition, the two blades — originally fixed and symmetrical — are now mounted on a mechanism allowing them to move and rotate around the lamp's central body, enabling adjustable, asymmetric light emission; even when the blades are fully closed, a thin beam of light remains visible. At 1692 mm in length, Seki-Han commands generous proportions, making it a defining presence in expansive interiors such as the living room. The 22 W LED source delivers warm light at 2700 K with a CRI greater than 80, is dimmable via trailing/leading edge TRIAC dimming, and is compatible with voltages from 100–240 V. Protection rating IP20, insulation class II, canopy included.
