Cappellini Pyramid chest of drawers

The Pyramid chest of drawers by Cappellini, designed by Shiro Kuramata, features a truncated-pyramid structure in clear methacrylate with 17 black methacrylate drawers of different sizes. Its dimensions are W 70 × D 60 × H 183 cm.

The whole unit rests on black rubber castors with chrome-plated metal housings, which lighten the transparent mass and make it easy to move. The 17 black methacrylate drawers, in progressively different sizes, follow the pyramidal profile of the structure, in a play of suspended volumes. The design is signed by Shiro Kuramata, the Japanese designer who in 1965 founded the Kuramata Design Office in Tokyo, active until 1991, the year of his death, leaving a legacy of projects that became milestones of twentieth-century design.
