Cappellini Mondo rug

Mondo is a rug by Cappellini. It measures 300 × 200 cm.

Designed by Lorenzo Damiani, Mondo turns a rug into a manifesto on culture and global dynamics. Made from wool and colored viscose, it plays on the contrast between past and present: the decorative pattern recalls the Persian iconography historically tied to rug-making, while the sea is rendered in a distinctly contemporary visual language. The continents, adorned with a floral motif symbolizing beauty and harmony, are mirrored from their usual arrangement, an inversion that invites reflection on the precarious balance between the world's wealthier and more disadvantaged regions.
