Flos’ creative journey continues under the sign of innovation and rediscovery. With the presentation of the new Luce Sferica and Luce Cilindrica designed by Ronan Bouroullec, and the re-edition of Seki-Han by Tobia Scarpa, the Italian brand reaffirms its ability to combine technical avant-garde and poetic charm, confirming a vision of design where light and matter merge to generate emotion.
Let’s discover these three models in detail!
Imagine a row of blown-glass spheres floating in the air like soap bubbles capturing the light. That’s the magic of Luce Sferica, the new creation by Ronan Bouroullec for Flos. The structure originates from a central extruded aluminum body — thin, precise, industrial — along which run two dimmable LED strips, one facing upward and the other downward, in a continuous play of reflections and transparency. Around this axis, transparent glass spheres with a diameter of 180 mm rest in poetic balance, creating a light and sophisticated suspension effect.
Available in three versions — with 8, 10, or 12 spheres — Luce Sferica becomes the centerpiece of any space: perfect above a modern dining table, in a minimalist living room, or a contemporary open space. The light it emits is soft yet intense, defining space with elegance without overwhelming it. You can choose between natural aluminum, anodized black, or light bronze finishes, depending on the atmosphere you wish to create — either technical and sharp, or warm and enveloping.
Choose Luce Sferica if you love pure forms and the poetry of light: this lamp doesn’t just illuminate — it transforms every room into a visual and sensory experience, an invitation to pause and see light as art.
If Luce Sferica represents lightness and transparency, Luce Cilindrica is its solid and architectural counterpart. Also designed by Ronan Bouroullec, it was originally conceived for the monumental atrium of the Bourse de Commerce – Pinault Collection in Paris, within a project by Tadao Ando. Here, the design develops around a central aluminum axis equipped with high-efficiency LEDs.
Instead of spheres, you’ll find a series of cylindrical glass modules, perfectly aligned, forming a composition that’s both geometric and fluid. The result is a directional and controlled light, ideal for highlighting materials and surfaces such as marble, concrete, or wood. Luce Cilindrica is also ideal for representative spaces — a large meeting table, an entrance hall, or an industrial-style living area.
You can install it as a single focal point or in sequence to create a luminous pathway. Available in black, silver, or champagne anodized finishes, it fits perfectly into contemporary interiors with an international flair. This lamp is designed for those who seek aesthetic rigor and innovation, but also silent emotion, made of balance and restraint.
Bring home the sculptural power of Luce Cilindrica: a luminous sign that turns architecture into pure atmosphere.
Alongside its contemporary research, Flos continues to breathe new life into its historical icons. Among them, Seki-Han by Tobia Scarpa, originally designed in 1963 and now reissued in a faithful yet evolved version. Seki-Han is a floor and suspension lamp with a warm soul, built from two wooden panels that enclose and shield the light source. The original version was made of Douglas fir, while the 2025 re-edition uses ash wood crafted in Italy, carefully dried to ensure stability and long-lasting quality.
The design is essential yet vibrant: the two now adjustable wooden panels allow you to modulate the opening and light intensity, creating intimate and customizable atmospheres. A black iron base enhances its solidity and slender proportions, making it ideal for spaces where you seek a balance between natural materials and sculptural presence. Place it next to a reading armchair, in a relaxation area, or in a living corner to bring warmth and depth to the environment.
Its name, “Seki-Han,” is also a symbol of good fortune: in Japan, seki han (red rice) is a celebratory dish representing birth and renewal. Choosing it means embracing a story of craftsmanship, culture, and gentle light. It’s the perfect object if you love authentic materials and want a light that accompanies your most intimate moments with discretion and poetry.
Rediscover the art of wood and the light of Italian design with Seki-Han by Flos: a legend once again illuminating the present.
With these three creations — Luce Sferica, Luce Cilindrica, and Seki-Han — Flos once again confirms its identity: a brand that unites technology and artistic sensitivity, tradition and research. Each project is a story of light that moves you, capable of transforming both the space and those who live within it. If you’re looking for a lamp that is not just an object but a gesture of style, culture, and innovation, Flos offers the perfect balance between function and beauty.
