Many design projects draw inspiration and lifeblood from the observation and imitation of natural shapes. The corolla of a flower. The veins of a tree. Or, moreover, the bat wings, just like the original inspiration from which the design of the Pipistrello lamp by Martinelli Luce was born, characterized by the particular pitched shape of its methacrylate white diffuser.
Born in 1965 from the genius of the Italian architect and designer Gae Aulenti, Pipistrello lamp is one of the spearheads of Martinelli Luce, the Tuscan company that marked the history of Italian lighting design and that never stops experimenting with new ideas for innovative lighting. From this impulse towards innovation the Minipipistrello Battery lamp was born, a rechargeable table lamp that reproduces the original table version of the iconic Pipistrello, in a reduced size and battery powered. A classic piece of lighting design that is renewed, not only with new dimensions - a diameter of 27 cm and 35 cm high - but also with new functions, as an homage to the project by Gae Aulenti and at the same time to show how the design work accomplished on this lamp it’s constantly renewed without altering its authenticity.

With a telescopic steel rod and a white opal methacrylate diffuser, it has a tapered painted conical base in aluminum which develops upwards towards the diffuser with a fluid movement, like the flapping of bat wings. Placed on a table or a bedside table, to illuminate a corner of your home or the table of your favorite restaurant, this lamp characterizes each room with its expressive power, and it’s available in 3 variants, differentiated by the color of the aluminum base: white, green and dark brown.
