Zanotta Primate kneeling stool

Primate is the kneeling seat by Zanotta, designed by Achille Castiglioni in 1970. The load-bearing structure is in rigid polyurethane with a black polystyrene base, an 18/8 stainless steel stem and flexible polyurethane padding. The upholstery is available in Ecofire or Pelle 95.

The kneeling form sets Primate apart from conventional seating: the posture it proposes is defined by the geometry of the piece itself, with support distributed between the seat and the knee rest. The black polystyrene base and the 18/8 stainless steel stem form the visible framework of the complement, while the flexible polyurethane padding characterises the contact surfaces. The two available finishes — Ecofire and Pelle 95 — offer different surface qualities within the same structure.
