The Danish designer duo Hvidt & Mølgaard, after experimenting with the concept of a wooden structure inspired by old tennis rackets, released X in 1959, a lounge chair with a sloping silhouette and sober aesthetics. Archival sketches show how the designers examined and tested materials, then opted for a natural woven rattan seat supported by an oiled oak frame. The joint of the leg in the shape of a connecting X is defined by a contrasting solid walnut insert.
The X lounge chair has lacquered oak veneer, solid walnut inserts and a natural rattan seat. The plastic feet have interchangeable felt inserts already included. X is suitable for indoor use only. Sold individually.
