&Tradition Guild shelf

In collaboration with Hvidt & Mølgaard, &Tradition presents for the first time Guild, a wooden shelf with an undulating shape and unparalleled level of craftsmanship. The organic shape is inspired by Axel Albeck's desk presented in 1951 at the Copenhagen Cabinet Makers Guild Exhibition, which had a distinctive boomerang-shaped edge. Today Guild has been adapted to contemporary design but maintaining the essence of Hvidt & Mølgaard's design philosophy. It is offered in two sizes: HM14 has a length of 75 cm, making it suitable for smaller spaces such as bedrooms, while HM15 has a length of 120 cm, which lends itself to larger contract spaces or to serve as a suitable surface for displaying personal items.

Guild is made of solid oak or walnut, with powder-coated aluminum details. Solid wood slats are cut, glued and shaped using a CNC machine. The shelves are then hand-sanded and coated with water-based paint for a smooth finish. Aluminum brackets are cast and powder-coated.

The oak and walnut used in the collection are FSC® certified, having been harvested with fragile forest ecosystems and local communities in mind, supporting environmentally, socially and economically responsible management of the world's forests. The water-based lacquer used for surface treatment is a low-chemical alternative that ensures safe indoor air. The Guild shelf is designed so that metal accessories can be separated from wood, enabling responsible recycling at the end of the product's life cycle.
