Poltronova Rumble sofa

Rumble by Poltronova stems from the experience of living in a spacious setting, originally a nineteenth-century artist's atelier. The sofa dialogues with the overall volume of space, conceived at the scale of the place rather than the human scale.

Simple and primal in form, Rumble is a bosom where everything happens, yet still suggests other possibilities. The structure in solid wood painted silver — 51 × 248 × 248 cm — mirrors the decomposition of form with that of function: the clean geometry of the initial status quo is upended by equally ungrammatical functions.
