Description

The Mies armchair by Poltronova, designed in 1969, emerges from the idea of using rubber as elastic seating.

The triangular geometry of the chromium-plated metal structure expresses a quest for formal purity that echoes the work of Mies van der Rohe, honoured by the name in the same year of his death. Pony-hair cushions for headrest and footrest coexist with the rigorous linearity of the base, creating a dialogue between softness and essentiality on a form of 80 × 131 × 74 cm.
