HUG Armchair by Meritalia, designed by Cristián Mohaded in Fabiola chenille, with checkerboard modules and soft enveloping forms.
HUG Sofa, designed by Cristián Mohaded for Meritalia, is a seating system that interprets contemporary design through an architectural, dynamic and experimental approach.
The project is defined by its checkerboard modular composition, where geometric elements alternate to create a deliberately non-uniform structure. This design reflects Meritalia’s philosophy of “lively non-coherence,” turning discontinuity into a distinctive aesthetic value.
The sofa is composed of three main modules that create a balanced yet dynamic configuration. The soft backrest extends laterally and gradually narrows into an armrest, forming a continuous and fluid line that defines the identity of the piece.
From a material perspective, HUG Sofa expresses a refined contrast between textures and colors: different surfaces alternate, while color combinations range from neutral tones to more vibrant shades. The result is a highly expressive sofa that becomes a focal point within any space.
Thanks to its generous padding and enveloping shapes, it offers a high level of comfort, making it ideal for contemporary living spaces, lounge areas and contract environments.
