Memphis Splendid floor lamp

Splendid, designed by Martine Bedin for Memphis Milano, is a floor lamp that combines structural simplicity with surprising expressive power. Its design plays with essential shapes and rich colours: blue and yellow-gold, shades that evoke preciousness, sacredness and a link with deep cultural traditions, while reflecting Memphis' constant tension between escaping from conventions and reinterpreting them.

The lamp consists of an enamelled hemispherical base that seems almost animated, giving the object an anthropomorphic, almost playful quality. A slender steel stem rises from this base, ending in two symmetrical bulbs, reinforcing the contrast between the lightness of the structure and the solidity of the base. The form is sculptural and almost narrative, inviting the observer to imagine stories behind its presence.

Splendid is not just a functional element, but a work of design that embodies the essence of Memphis: provocative, ironic and capable of transforming an everyday object into a visual and cultural symbol.
