Emerald by Memphis Milano, designed by Nathalie du Pasquier, is a storage unit that challenges traditional aesthetic conventions through a playful and surprising visual language. Made of wood covered with decorative laminate and wood essence veneer, it is distinguished by the bold juxtaposition of natural materials and geometric patterns, an encounter that generates an alienating and engaging visual effect.Emerald's design moves between the two- and three-dimensional, between abstract and figurative representation, creating an object that seems to oscillate between object of use and work of art. The surfaces are animated by graphic patterns that evoke a surreal world, where every detail seems inserted more to inspire awe than to follow a functional logic. The entire piece is shot through with a playful tension that reflects the spirit of the Memphis collective: breaking the rules of conventional good taste to assert a new aesthetic made of irony, contrasts and expressive freedom.
