Memphis Lettuce is a ceramic serving dish designed by Ettore Sottsass in 1985 for Memphis Milano. Unlike many objects from the Memphis movement, this piece abandons the characteristic vivid colour schemes in favour of a striking formal purity: the white of the ceramic creates a neutral and luminous base, while the black decoration — linear and graphic — adds an intellectual and abstract touch. The dish measures 300 mm in diameter and is crafted entirely in high-quality ceramic.

The graphic motif does not directly represent the vegetable evoked by the name "Lettuce", but refers to fragments of architectural drawings, suggesting a surreal narrative open to personal interpretation. This object proves to be not only a container for food, but an element that stimulates the imagination and thought, merging art and design in a single formal gesture. Perfect for enriching a carefully set table or as a display piece, it fits naturally into the living room or the kitchen of those who appreciate designer objects. With this piece, Ettore Sottsass created an object that, decades after its creation, retains its full conceptual strength and timeless appeal.
