Description

The D'Antibes cabinet, designed by George J. Sowden and associated with the Memphis movement, is a cabinet with a bold and distinctive character. It is a display cabinet with a geometric lacquered wood structure that develops on long slender legs, giving it a sleek and refined appearance. The design is distinguished by the expressive use of primary and contrasting colours, a characteristic element of the Memphis style, and by side panels decorated with screen-printed graphic motifs, which visually enrich the object.

Each part of the cabinet is emphasised by a different colour, creating a play of tones that emphasises the clean lines and geometric proportions of the piece. The tempered glass doors allow objects to be displayed inside, transforming the cabinet into a decorative focal point for the room.

Without following conventional patterns, D'Antibes embraces a non-conformist design philosophy that celebrates vibrancy and expressiveness, making it an iconic piece of Memphis style
