Beverly, designed by Ettore Sottsass for Memphis in 1981, is a storage cabinet that interprets design as a symbolic and narrative language. Described by Sottsass himself as a kind of metaphorical time machine, Beverly stands as one of the most emblematic pieces of the Italian radical design movement. The structure combines wood, decorative laminate and wood veneer in a highly graphic and sculptural composition, where the diagonal vertical support acts as a “virtual divider of styles”, intended to symbolically separate the past of design from the present.
On the right side of the structure, a contemporary chrome coat stand is enriched with a bright red decorative bulb, an ironic and playful detail that highlights the unconventional spirit of the project. With its generous dimensions and strong visual presence, Beverly is ideal for a living room, a contract setting or a contemporary design collection space. More than a simple storage unit, this piece becomes an architectural element capable of transforming interiors through character, colour and visual experimentation.
