Louis Poulsen PH Snowball E27 suspension lamp

Throughout his life, designer Poul Henningsen sought to design anti-glare and direct lighting, creating soft shadows with incandescent bulbs as the light source. Henningsen first designed the PH Snowball in 1958; the lamp was exhibited together with the famous PH5 at the Danish Museum of Decorative Arts. However, the PH Snowball was redesigned and reintroduced to the market in 1983 with considerable success worldwide.

In 2025, six new finishes were introduced in addition to the classic white: Dusty blue, dusty green and soft white. The new PH Snowball in soft white features a slightly matte finish with gloss level 40 on the outside and a polished metallic brass or polished chrome frame. The existing version in white, on the other hand, has a gloss level 95 on the outside and a chrome-plated frame.

CONCEPT - The luminaire emits a comfortable, glare-free diffused light. The matt painted lower surfaces and the glossy upper part, are expressed in an attractive reflection of the scattered light which creates an even distribution of light around the luminaire. When you turn on the light, the upper part is illuminated while the lower part remains dark.
