Louis Poulsen PH Snowball E27 suspension lamp

Louis Poulsen PH Snowball E27 is an iconic suspension lamp designed by Poul Henningsen for Louis Poulsen, first conceived in 1958 and exhibited alongside the celebrated PH5 at the Danish Museum of Decorative Arts. Redesigned and relaunched in 1983, the PH Snowball has earned lasting worldwide acclaim thanks to its core design philosophy: glare-free lighting with soft shadows and an even, enveloping light distribution. The structure is crafted in aluminium — pulled aluminium shades, a frame in die-cast aluminium or zinc, and a body in extruded aluminium or zinc — with liquid-painted finishes available in White, Dusty Blue, Dusty Green and Soft White.

The PH Snowball is designed for residential spaces where design takes centre stage, making it an ideal choice for the living room or the bedroom, where the quality of diffused light contributes to creating intimate and refined atmospheres. The lighting concept is built on the contrast between the matt-painted lower surfaces and the glossy upper part: when switched on, the upper section is illuminated while the lower part remains in shadow, producing an attractive reflection that distributes light evenly around the fitting with no direct glare. In 2025, six new finishes were introduced: the Soft White version features a slightly matte finish with a gloss level of 40 on the outside and a polished metallic brass or polished chrome frame, while the classic White version retains a gloss level of 95 with a chrome-plated frame. The interior side is painted white, high-gloss chrome or high-gloss brass metallic. The lamp has a diameter of 400 mm and a total height of 390 mm, with a maximum weight of 3 kg. The suspension mounting is of the E27 type, with a 3x0.75 mm² cable and a length of 3 metres; ceiling canopy is included. Compatible with voltages of 100–240 V and with an E26/E27 lampholder for a LED source up to 70W (bulb not included). Protection rating IP20, insulation class I.
