The historic PH Artichoke suspension lamp is now a true design icon, originally designed by Poul Henningsen. In 1958, he was asked to create a pendant lamp for the Langelinie Pavilion in Copenhagen, and Henningsen took only three months to complete it, as the base had already been created around 1927-31, when he developed the PH Septima with alternating transparent glass shades and sandblasted sections. The PH Artichoke is therefore based on the Septima concept.
Seventy-two metal leaves form 12 precise rows, each consisting of six leaves, to ensure flawless, glare-free light diffusion, regardless of the angle from which the pendant lamp is viewed. The name refers to its distinctive design, which distributes light both inward and outward, providing complete and pleasant illumination. The PH Artichoke is presented in 2025 with a brand new range of finishes: Dusty blue with brass or chrome details, dusty green with brass or chrome details, white with brass details. It is also available with a diameter of Ø480 or Ø600mm.
