Louis Poulsen PH 5 320 Opal suspension

The 1958 design by designer Poul Henningsen is based on the principle of a three-screen reflective system, which directs most of the light downward. The suspension emits light in a horizontal direction, as well as illuminates by diffusing a soft radiance from within its core. The lower screen features frosted diffuser glass to ensure that the downward-directed light is 100% glare-free.

Louis Poulsen introduces the new PH 5 320 Opal, a smaller version than the original one that maintains the original proportions, with a diameter of 320 mm, featuring a lightweight and opalescent material. The interplay between light, glossy finish, texture, and translucency creates a new visual experience, both in terms of materiality and lighting effect.

-Concept: The fixture provides 100% glare-free illumination. It emits downward light as well as lateral light that illuminates the fixture itself.

-Materials: Outer shade in injection-moulded acrylic (PMMA) with a glossy finish. Internal reflective surfaces with white wet-painted glossy finish.
