Kartell Teatime tray recycled PMMA

The Kartell Teatime tray, designed by Philippe Starck, represents one of the first applications of the brand’s new recycled transparent PMMA, marking an important step toward more sustainable production within the world of contemporary Italian design. The material used is largely obtained through the depolymerization of plastic waste from different sources, a process that allows plastic materials to be recovered and transformed into high-quality polymer again. Despite its recycled origin, the PMMA maintains aesthetic qualities and structural performance comparable to virgin material, ensuring transparency, durability and long-lasting resistance. With the Teatime project, Kartell demonstrates how industrial plastic waste can be transformed into new objects designed to last over time and potentially become design icons. The tray features a refined perforated decorative pattern that creates elegant light effects, making it ideal for serving tea, drinks, appetizers or small dishes with contemporary style. The tray measures 43.5 cm in length, 33 cm in width and 4.1 cm in height, proportions designed to ensure practicality and a strong aesthetic presence on the table.
