Kartell Teatime tray recycled PMMA

The Kartell Teatime tray, designed by Philippe Starck, represents one of the first applications of the brand's new recycled transparent PMMA, marking a significant step toward more sustainable production within contemporary Italian design. The material is largely obtained through the depolymerization of plastic waste from various sources, a process that recovers raw material and transforms it into a high-quality polymer. Despite its recycled origin, the PMMA maintains aesthetic and structural qualities comparable to virgin material, ensuring transparency, resistance and long-lasting durability. The tray measures 43.5 cm in length, 33 cm in width and 4.1 cm in height, proportions designed to combine practicality with a strong aesthetic presence.

With the Teatime project, Kartell demonstrates how industrial plastic waste can be transformed into objects built to last and become true design icons. The surface features a refined perforated decorative pattern that creates elegant light effects, making it ideal for serving tea, drinks, appetizers or small dishes in contemporary style. It is a versatile accessory that brings together functionality and sophistication, perfect for enhancing any living room or dining table setting.
