Kartell Lepid bookcase

The LEPID collection is born as a balance between sign and matter, between design rigour and expressive freedom. The system, composed of bookcases, shelves, sideboards and consoles, transforms the profile into the true protagonist of the project, making it the graphic element that runs through and defines the entire composition. Lines that meet and overlap, precisely calibrated solids and voids build a light rhythm in space, while the contrasting edge becomes a continuous sign evoking the spontaneity of a freehand sketch. Made with recycled wood fibre panels finished in ivory, burgundy and mustard, achieving sharp contrasts between surfaces and profiles — turning a structural detail into a distinctive design element. The wood comes from FSC-certified forests, while the interlocking rail assembly system guarantees structural solidity and ease of installation.

LEPID is a collection presented at the Salone del Mobile 2025, born from the collaboration between Kartell and designer Patricia Urquiola. The project reinterprets the furniture system in a contemporary key, with a formal language that makes the contrasting edge its distinctive trait.
