Fontana Arte Table with Wheels square glass table

Tavolo con Ruote square table by FontanaArte, designed by Gae Aulenti in 1980, is a ground float-glass coffee table that reinterprets industrial design through an elegant and timeless aesthetic. The project draws inspiration from the trolleys used inside the FontanaArte factory to transport glass: the original shelf is replaced by a thick transparent glass top supported by industrial wheels with black painted metal brackets.

The square version enhances the visual lightness of glass and the strong graphic identity of the wheel structure, making it an ideal centrepiece for contemporary living room settings, lounge spaces and design-focused interiors. Available in four sizes — 100×100 cm, 110×110 cm, 120×120 cm and 150×150 cm — the table adapts effortlessly to both residential environments and prestigious spaces. Thanks to its unmistakable style and historical significance, Tavolo con Ruote is part of the permanent collections of the MoMA in New York and the Centre Pompidou in Paris, standing as one of the most celebrated FontanaArte creations. In 2026 it received the prestigious ADI Compasso d'Oro Career Award for Product, one of the highest honours in international design, confirming the enduring relevance of Gae Aulenti's project and its ability to express a contemporary and innovative design language.
