Extraordinary, essential and ingenious, the Parentesi lamp by Flos is the result of the two great designers Achille Castiglioni and Pio Manzu, first presented in 1971 and one of the most important icons of Italian industrial design. The name is inspired by a metal tube, the central element of the lamp, shaped in the form of a parenthesis, which is indicative of great innovation since it allows the lamp to be adjusted with a slight pressure of the hand. Parentesi is perfect with few elements, characterized by the vertical movement of the lighting body obtained by sliding the shaped steel tube. Functional, simple and devoid of superfluous, a manifesto of the form=function principle.

Direct light emission lamp. The vertical movement of the light fixture is achieved by sliding a shaped, liquid-painted or nickel-plated steel tubular over a steel cable stretched between the ceiling rose and the floor counterweight (max. useful length 400 cm). The luminaire head is made of black injection-molded elastomer, within which the luminaire switch is housed. It is available in four color variants and it is also possible to choose the dimmable or non-dimmable version. In both cases the bulb is not included, but can be purchased separately.

Parentesi won the Compasso D'Oro in 1979, and today it is on display at the Design Museum of the Milan Triennale.
