The hypnotic percussiveness of the carioca rhythms occurs through the use of primordial instruments: the hands. Precisely to pay homage to the hands of the black slaves, the first Brazilian percussionists, capable of “batucar” the drums and making people dance in a mix of music and religion, Batucada seems to want to hold the source, a precious source of light, between two hands, hiding or revealing it when necessary.
